Justin Timberlake Attempts To Make MySpace Cool Again

Now gather ’round children, for a tale of an age long ago, when MySpace was king and Facebook was just a twinkle in Mark Zuckerberg‘s JesseEisenberg-looking eye. Justin Timberlake’s MySpace deal seems like an attempt at regaining that golden era, i.e. 2000-2001. Not only is the Bad Teacher star taking a stake in the company, he’s working with them to develop “its new strategy and creative direction.” In other words, MySpace is trying to use the power of “3-Way (The Golden Rule)” to lure even one single person away from Facebook.

Why is MySpace resting its hopes on The Social Network star? Apparently the new MySpace is going to focus specifically on music. Oh, and also MySpace laid off half of its staff recently. So they probably would have taken any boybander right about now. “Art is inspired by people and vice versa, so there’s a natural social component to entertainment. I’m excited to help revitalize Myspace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community,” Jusin said in a statement. Timberlake then quietly and discretely checked his Facebook 75 times in a row.
