Only 40 out of 160 institutions given to provinces: PML-N

LAHORE:PML-N Senator and Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Rashid has said the federal government, under its unconstitutional powers, has taken over the control of provincial autonomy granted under the constitution.


He said unfortunately federal government had failed to grant autonomy to the provinces under the constitution and was trying to create hurdles in its implementation.


He further said that in this way the federal government was destroying the real spirit of provincial autonomy. He said only 40 out of 160 institutions had been given to the provinces whereas remaining 120 departments had been kept by the federal government.


Senator Pervaiz Rashid said the federal government in violation of the constitution had usurped workers welfare institutions, hospitals, tourist centres and evacuee properties whereas as per provincial autonomy granted under the constitution, all these institutions should be under the control of provinces.


He said the issue of complete autonomy to the provinces would be raised in the meeting of the Council of Common Interests and if no progress was made then the extreme step of going to the Supreme Court would be taken.The news.
