Man Compared to Rosa Parks After Receiving $10 Manicure

Some people simply have nothing going on in their lives. Which is fine. Not everyone has the luxury of television, or the Internet or readily available porn. Norris Sydnor III is apparently one of those people. After being forced — forced! I tell you — to pay one dollar extra for a manicure based solely on the fact of his mannish man hands, Sydnor is on a civil rights crusade, suing Rich’s Nail Salon for $200,000.

Man Compared to Rosa Parks After Receiving $10 Manicure

“I was angry. I was humiliated,” claimed Sydnor. “The big deal is that I feel like I’m being discriminated based on my gender. There’s nothing to say that my hands or my nails are different than a woman’s nails. Nobody measured my hands, no one measured my fingernails.”

Sydnor’s lawyer, Jimmy Bell — in need of a challenge or at least a chuckle — maintains his client’s righteous indignation, stating:  “Rosa Parks paid the same amount of money but was required to sit in the back of the bus. My client paid more money for less services because he didn’t get polish, he didn’t get clear to go over the polish.”

The 43-year-old manny-loving man spoke to his local Fox affiliate and poured a decently-manicured finger –you get what you pay for — over the salons catalog, which details in not-the-best English the price disparity between women and men.

A judge has issued an injunction ordering the salon not to charge men more money than women for its services, with the case set to go to trial July 21.

What’s sad is that Sydnor probably has a good chance at winning this — though I doubt anyone would give him $200,00 in damages for a goddamn $10 manicure — that is unless Rich’s Nail Salon can prove that Sydnor’s and the average man’s nail beds are larger or require more work than a lady’s.

And considering Sydnor’s size — big guys like nice nails too — that might not prove so hard. [HuffPo]

Studded Thongs And Boob Tape On The Bowery—Just Another Evening After Work

At first glance, the scene at the Bowery Hotel last night appeared like your average Thursday night—a low-key crowd having post-work drinks among friends. That’s essentially what it was. Jonathan Saunders and Richard Nicoll (above) were toasting to the completion of their Resort collections, with an impressive crowd of guests, including Giovanna Battaglia, Byrdie Bell, Hilary Rhoda, Jen Brill, and Terry Richardson.

It was a fashion fête with none of the fanfare that usually comes with it. Maybe that was the result of the designers’ laid-back attitudes toward Resort. “It is fun to do because it’s not as serious,” Saunders told Style.com. “You get to show what you might not typically do.” Typical or not, both designers seemed to have naughty dressing on the mind. Saunders was thinking of newly-minted Fashion Icon (according to the CFDA, at least) Lady Gaga. “I really don’t know how she sat in a studded thong for so long. It must have really hurt her bum,” Saunders said of the pop queen’s ensemble at Monday night’s CFDA Awards. (Her stylist, Nicola Formichetti, was standing nearby; if he knew, he wasn’t saying.) “That was truly impressive.”

For Giovanna Battaglia, naughty was so nice she may have to do it twice. She’d shown plenty of skin in a vintage Stephen Sprouse dress at Cannes, and, she said, “I love it so much I am going to find another event to wear it for.” The downside of a barely-there gown? “I’m going to have to tape my [boobs] in—now that was a top-secret process. I can’t share the details.”

Amber Rose Loses Modeling Gig After Nude Photos Leak

As if general embarrassment and awkward family parties weren’t enough, the Amber Rose nude photo scandal has the model losing work, despite the fact that it really only proves she’s photogenic from any angle. “The company that I was working with no longer wants to work with me because of these pics and that prevents me from getting money to take care of my family.” Rose tweeted today, about the photos posted by MediaTakeout. “Its a messed up situation when someone so evil comes into ur life and tries to destroy it. I know I’m not the only girl in the world that has taken pics like that but they were very private.” Amber is right, though; plenty of celebs have naked pictures floating around. Give it five years and people will just put them directly on the back of their business cards.

As for where Amber’s nude photos originated, Rose, currently dating Wiz Khalifa, maintains that they were stolen from her computer. “I trusted someone that worked 4 me & allowed them to use my laptop a million times, I caught this person sending my pics to themselves and I fired this person immediately ,” she tweets. “Wiz & I & both of our families have known about this for 2 months now. We tried to prepare ourselves for this day.” However, Amber reassures fans it was a client, rather than her modeling agency CAA, that reacted so harshly to the pics. “I didn’t get dropped from my agency. I swear I’m on here eday shutting down rumors & the only reason I do is cuz its messing up my business,” she writes. Whoever sent her photos out should be very worried if they themselves have any nudes floating around. We know what we’d do with them: billboard in Time Square.

Stop The Violence: High School Football Star Stabbed To Death Hours After He Graduated!!

R.I.P. Isayah Muller, another victim of senseless violence.

A star high school football player from the Bronx was stabbed to death during a parking lot rumble, just hours after graduating, cops said.

Isayah Muller, a 19-year-old running back for Truman High School, had just left his commencement at Lehman College around 4 p.m. to head to a celebratory dinner with his family at City Island, cops said.

The family members got into their car, but after pulling out of the Jerome Ave. parking lot, the father, Andre Muller, noticed some “expensive fragrances missing from the car,” a source said.

The father turned around and drove back to the M.T. Jerome Town Corp. lot to confront the parking attendants about the stolen cologne, a graduation gift to his son, cops and family said.

Once the car was parked, an argument erupted between the elder Muller and the parking attendants, cops said.

Suddenly, they began to brawl and two attendants pulled out knives, a relative said.

“Neither of \[the Mullers\] were armed,” said Myrna Valentin, 54, Muller’s grandmother. “\[Andre Muller\] picked up a shovel and snapped one of them with it and broke his arm.”

Isayah Muller was stabbed twice in the scuffle, once in his side and once in his chest, piercing his heart, sources and family said

According to his family Isayah was a good kid with a very bright future.

Family friend Sabrina Marzan, 31, said Muller promised to provide for his mother, who is pregnant with twins.

“He’d say to his mom, ‘When I get in the NFL, I’m going to take care of you and the kids,’” Marzan recalled.

It really pisses us off to hear stories like this. Hopefully the police catch these cowardly “thugs” and sit them down for a long time!

Ilyas let off after warning

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee has recommended that the suspension on Mohammad Ilyas be lifted while issuing a warning to the selector. PHOTO: FILE

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee has recommended that the suspension on Mohammad Ilyas be lifted while issuing a warning to the selector. Ilyas was suspended after his remarks on a TV show – a response to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi who criticised the selector – violated the board’s code of conduct.

However, the committee let off Ilyas after he explained the reasons for getting involved in the dispute.

“Ilyas said that he had to defend his honor after being subjected to accusations of a personal nature,” read a PCB release. “The selector had only responded to personal comments.”

Ilyas and Afridi have had a rocky relationship where the former captain has accused him of favouring his son-in-law Imran Farhat. Ilyas has accused Afridi of pushing for the selection of Ahmed Shehzad, Fawad Alam and Shahzaib Hasan.
